Summerising

The story was about 4 warriors Tongariro, Taranaki, Putauaki, Tauhara who loved this person named Pihanga. They wanted to marry Pihanga because she was beautiful. They all confessed their love to Pihanga. Pihanga wanted to be in peace, But she had to choose who would be her husband. Tongariro and Taranaki fought because they wanted to marry Pihanga. The other brothers were tired or had a limb. Tongariro won the fight and the reward was Pihanga. Then the sky father wrapped them because Pihanga was ready for Tongariro, the mightiest warrior/husband.

I enjoyed this activity because I learned on how to summarise. I did well on summarising the text. I need to improve on knowing what the keyword are.

Where am I

I completed another where am I.

First I read the questions and made a DLO

Next I figured out what the buildings name is. It is the Taj Mahal

Then I found out what country the building is built in. It is built in Northern India.

After I found out who uses the building. Anyone can visit the building but only if they have a ticket.

Lastly I found out when the building was built. It was built in 1632 to 1653.

Finally I found out why the building is built in that country and a interesting fact about it. The Taj mahal was made because it is memory of his wife who died on 17 June that year while giving birth to there 14th child and a fact is that the taj mahal took more that 2 decades to finish. it began in 1632 to 1653.

I enjoyed finding the facts about the Taj Mahal . I did well on finding the information. I need to improve on using up it whole space when I write the DLO.

Finally I found out why the building is built in that country and a interesting fact about it. The Sydney Opera house was built on water which helps to heat and air condition in the building and the fact is that more than 10.9 million people visit the opera house every year.

SSR Selfie – Sharks

I completed a SSR selfie task with a text called Sharks.

First I read a text called sharks. I read the text up to page 2.

Next I finished an SSR selfie task.

The task was to write 3 key pieces of information in the text. One key fact is that female sharks are usually bigger than male sharks.

It also asked about the author, the illustrator, photographer, the main topic of the book  The author,  illustrator, and the photographer is Alison Ballance.

Then we had to find 3 new words, find out the meaning and write it in my own words. One was IUCN and that means an International Union for the Conservation of nature company.

The Remarkeble Reti

I read a book called the Remarkable Reti. First we read the text called The Remarkable Reti in pairs. A Reti has a device that is controlled from the shore.

Next as a group we had 4 parts to take which is Leader, Comprehender, Antagonist, and Clarifier. The Leader’s job is to ask a question. The Comprehender’s job is to answer that question and pass the question on. The Antagonist’s job is to disagree with someone, and the Clarifier is to tell everyone that we all agree.

Lastly we recorded ourself saying who is the person in the picture, what is he doing, why is he doing that, and how did he do that.

I enjoyed reading with my buddy. I did well on answering the question. I need to improve on saying what I disagree on.

Inference

Inference is guessing extra information from from a picture or text.

A inference is information that I can’t be seen from a picture. Inference is guessing things from observable information. For eg: I can see sheep so I can infer that they are on a farm.

`Inferring is guessing extra information from clues that you see from the picture.

What is observable and literal information?

Observable information is something that can be seen directly. Litreal information is information that is printed or written down.

Observable information can be seen without guessing information. For example in the first slide there is a boy wearing a yellow shirt. Lireal information is something that we read.

Observable information and litreal information are true pieces of informations on the text and image.

Making Connections

We read a text that links with my prior knowledge.

First we chose a how we are going to read the book called South Pacific Drums. We chose buddy reading to read the text. Buddy reading is reading to our partner paragraph by paragraph switching.

Next we read the first two pages with our partner. We answered the questions from the first two pages we read.

Lastly we read the last two pages and answered the questions for the last pages.

I enjoyed reading with my buddy. I did well on answering the questions. I need to improve on understanding the text.

South Pacific

We read a text and connected it to our prior knowledge. We also comprehended the text.

First we used our prior knowledge look what the text is about. Prior knowledge is information you know before reading the topic.

Next we predicted what the text will be about. I predicted that it might be about the South Pacific drums.

Lastly we connected what we made with the prior knowledge between and the text.

I enjoyed this task because I learnt that prior knowledge is information you know before reading the text. I need to improve on connecting my prior knowledge with the text. I did well on predicting about the text.
