LI: To understand why is the treaty important today in Aotearoa
In this learning we explored the history of the Treaty of Waitangi. The Treaty of Waitangi is about an agreement between the Maori Cheifs and the British Crown. The Treay was an agreement to give each other peace and protection from the Pakeha. Unfortunately the British convinced the Maori Cheifs and the British broke the promise and started war. This is an important part of our New Zealand history because the treaty was the founding document of New Zealand.
I found this activity interesting because I learned more information about the Treaty of Waitangi.
